The legendary Intimate Troupe of Men “Erelis” gives the last chance to the young generation
“We simply cannot be quiet any more. The society is rolling towards hell, does not understand its roots. Nobody reads books any more, does not go deep into works of literature. We are trying to get it back there, give the last chance to the young generation“, – actor Robertas Aleksaitis reveals the reasons of the troupe's return.
In the performance shown 25 years ago the talented fivesome of talented actors (Aidas Giniotis, Andrius Kaniava, Robertas Aleksaitis, Darius Miniotas and Darius Auželis) performed 2 parts, comprised of opera-cantata “Brisiaus galas” and national conversation-dispute “Sakmė pagal Juzą”. The works of classics such as Jonas Biliūnas and Juozas Baltušis transform into humourous musical projects in the lips of the troupe. Back then, when the brigade-agitating humour was dominating the country, and you could laugh at yourself at the best, “Erelis” did exactly that – they performed subtle self-irony of high hallmark. It remained up till now, besides, on the occasion of the return, the Intimate Troupe of Men “Erelis” provide the audience not only with the beloved performances, but also with a brand new part “Sigutė”.
Having seen the performance back then, Neringa Čereškevičienė, the creator of “Tele-bim-bam” tells: “It was a completely new step in the area of Lithuanian humour. Full halls, full Sport Palace would gather to see the performance. Pure humour of the post-communist society, summoning people around.”
Returning to the stage this year, “Ereliai” proved that even after a quarter of age has passed their popularity has not faded away – the first performance of their return in the capital was sold out, and people gathered at Keistuolių Teatras relived the story the same way as back then, laughed no less as well, possibly even more and louder.
“I watched their performance 25 years ago, I could not resist coming and seeing them now. Then their humour was like a fight against a stiff ideology, they showed how humorous a reality we lived in. Even though many years have passed since then, their staging is still as funny and as well revealing the reality of those days. Therefore “Erelis” is worth seeing not only for the generation of the Soviet times, but also their children, so they would know how their parents lived”, - says Marija, who watched the “Erelis” performance in Vilnius a couple of weeks ago.
According to R. Aleksaitis, it is not a performance, it is a creative consideration of not what the actors, but what the audience are thinking. “Usually there is a lot of thinking on stage. You leave the performance and you do not understand what it was about. And here the audience take away what they had come up with themselves. We are a slightly unconventional theatre, but our audience have already got used to it. The depth of the performance is evaluated by how much the viewer is able to understand”, - claims the actor.
On 9th February already, just like 25 years ago, the oratories, sagas and disputes in Panevėžys Juozas Miltinis drama theatre will be brought to the audience by Aidas Giniotis, Andrius Kaniava, Robertas Aleksaitis, Darius Miniotas and Darius Auželis. On 12th February the Intimate Troupe of Men “Erelis” will visit the Girstutis culture palace in Kaunas, on 15th February will once again come back to Keistuolių Teatras in Vilnius, and on 29th February will gather the audience in Šiauliai Drama Theatre. The tickets to the troupe's performances are distributed by the ticket distribution company Tiketa.
